Slippery Penguins, MIHS Freshmen VEX Robotics Team, wins the Cross Border Challenge Tournament Championship
Mercer Island, WA, January 13, 2025 – The MIHS VEX Robotics team Slippery Penguins participated in the Cross Border Challenge Tournament on Saturday at Bellingham High School.
The tournament brought together 62 top teams from British Columbia and Washington.
The Penguins won six and lost one in the qualification rounds, securing the fourth seed alliance. They advanced through three consecutive elimination matches to reach the final, where they defeated the Canadian alliance to claim the Cross Border Challenge Tournament championship trophy.
This victory has also earned the team an early invitation to the Washington High School State Championship in mid-March.
