MIHS VEX Robotics Team Headed To VEX World Championship in Dallas
Mercer Island, WA, March 18, 2025 –The Mercer Island High School VEX Robotics team, Slippery Penguins, made up of six freshmen, capped off an incredible season with a standout performance at the 2025 Washington VEX High School State Championship this past weekend.
The Penguins earned the Amaze Award after securing a third-place finish in qualifications out of 50 high school teams and advancing to the semifinals in the playoffs. Their consistently outstanding performance qualified them—among the top 2% of teams worldwide—for the 2025 VEX High School World Championship in Texas this May, solidifying Mercer Island as one of Washington’s premier VEX robotics programs.
Leading the charge was Harry Nguyen (Team Captain and Lead Designer), along with Til Wyss (Builder), Brian Kwon (Lead Coder), Zevi Danielli (Coder), Kenan Khatib (Lead Notebooker), and Henry Xing (Notebooker).
This success builds upon a busy and successful season for the Penguins, who also captured four other regional tournament championships earlier in the season.
We wish the Slippery Penguins the best of luck at the VEX World Championship in Dallas!
