MIHS Unified Hoops Progresses to State Tourney

Mercer Island, WA, February 26, 2025 - Capping off an eventful season, Mercer Island High School's Unified basketball program clinched a playoff spot in the State Unified tournament taking place in March.
Led by Head Coach and Program Coordinator Jeniffer Blaser and assistant coaches Jamie Glennon and Drew Engvall, MIHS defeated Kentwood High School and Ingraham High School. MIHS Unified lost to Lincoln High School at Sammamish High School in Bellevue in the King County district playoffs.
The team will travel to Wenatchee this weekend for playoff games hosted by the Special Olympics.
The Unified team will play a Varsity Combo team of MIHS girls and boys basketball players on Wednesday, March 5 at 3pm in the MIHS Gym in front of students, parents, staff and other fans.
Unified team members Liam Murawski and Ethan Crespi have been selected as All-Stars and will play in the All-Star Game on Thursday, March 15 at Bellevue College with other All-Stars from around the state.
This marks the second time in a year that an MIHS Unified team qualified for a state tournament. Last spring, MIHS Unified Soccer battled it out in a scorching heat wave and placed second in Washington.
Mercer Island High School Unified Sports prides itself on encouraging inclusive athletics for all. Under the umbrella organization, Special Olympics Washington, Unified Sports empowers high school students with and without differences to play sports together to foster community, connection, and acceptance.
MIHS Unified welcomes all high school students of all abilities to join the Unified Soccer team in the spring or co-ed flag football in the fall. No experience is necessary. To register or to learn more about Unified Sports contact jeniffer.blaser@
