MIHS senior Piper Enge Named to US Swimming National Team
Mercer Island, WA, September 12, 2023 – Mercer Island High School senior swimmer Piper Enge was named by USA Swimming to the 2023-24 U.S. National Team today.
“It’s a huge honor and I have been looking forward to this my whole life,” said Enge prior to the Islanders practice at Mary Wayte Pool this afternoon. “It’s so cool to see the people that you idolized your whole life and then all of a sudden your name is next to them on the list and you are on the same team. You get to represent your country which is probably the coolest thing I have ever done.”
MIHS girls swim and dive Head Coach Chauntelle Johnson said “I am so excited for Piper. This is an incredible, well-earned honor. We have been lucky to have Piper in the MI program the past few years and as a captain for the team this year. I am so proud of Piper's continued success in turning dreams into realities at every chance she gets. Piper has never been shy about her love of the MI community and we couldn't be happier for her.”

Her perseverance, sportsmanship, and talent make her an exceptional representative for Team USA. We are equally proud of our collective Swim and Dive team, who consistently demonstrate teamwork, a strong work ethic, and outstanding performances in the pool and classroom. Congratulations, Piper, and kudos to all of our remarkable athletes!”
The National Team roster features 94 athletes from across the country and is comprised of the six athletes with the fastest times in each Individual Olympic Event, from the combined results of a USA Swimming sanctioned competition, an AQUA approved competition, or an international competition between January 1, 2023 through September 9, 2023 to which USA Swimming sent a team.
Piper qualified with the one of the top six times in the country in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke.
The MIHS swim team’s next meet is Thursday, September 14, vs. Skyline at 3:30pm at Mary Wayte Pool on Mercer Island.
