MIHS Senior Jack Isaacs Triumphed at Washington State Stock Market Game Competition in June
Mercer Island, WA, August 30, 2024 – Mercer Island High School is proud to announce that Jack Isaacs, a senior, in June emerged as the winner of the prestigious Stock Market Game yearlong competition in Washington State. Competing against 400 teams from 18 schools across the state, Jack's outstanding performance is a testament to his dedication, financial wisdom, and strategic investing skills.
Jack's winning strategy centered around selecting stocks with low beta values, indicating lower volatility compared to the market. He coupled this approach with a keen focus on high yearly earnings estimates, ensuring he targeted companies with strong future profit potential. Additionally, Jack meticulously considered the overall stock price, balancing his portfolio to maximize gains while managing risk effectively.
"My strategy involved a careful analysis of low beta stocks and high earnings estimates, which helped me make informed decisions. It’s been an incredible learning experience, and I’m grateful for the support I received," said Jack Isaacs.
The Stock Market Game, sponsored by the SIFMA Foundation, is a nationwide educational program that provides students with a real-world simulation of the stock market. Participants invest a hypothetical $100,000 in listed stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, learning about the intricacies of finance, economics, and the importance of strategic planning.
Jack’s achievement not only highlights his individual talent but also reflects the high caliber of education and support provided by Mercer Island High School's business and marketing CTE program.
As Jack continues his academic journey, he plans to further explore the field of finance and investment. His victory serves as an inspiration to his peers and underscores the importance of financial literacy education.
