MIHS girls swim and dive team wins third consecutive 3A State Championship
Mercer Island, November 16, 2024 - The MIHS Girls Swim/Dive team captured their third consecutive 3A State Championship Saturday at the King County Aquatics Center.
The team score of 381 points is the second highest team score in state history, with the highest ever being the 2022 MIHS team that scored 385 points. MIHS set school records in seven events - that is over HALF of the school records they have for the program.
Alexa McDevitt was the only double event winner of the entire meet - not just for MI, but for any team. Alexa broke the 3A meet record in the 200 Free with a time of 1:46.71.
They had multiple automatic All-American performances:
- 200 Medley Relay - 3rd - School Record - Automatic High School All-American Time - 1:42.97 - Clare Watson, Gracyn Kehoe, Tatum Enge, Hope Enge
- 200 Free - 1st - School Record - 3A State Meet Record - Automatic High School All-American - Alexa McDevitt

- 100 Fly - 2nd - School Record - Automatic High School All-American - Clare Watson - 52.90
- 500 Free - 1st - School Record - Automatic High School All-American - Alexa McDevitt - 4:52.91
- 200 Free Relay - 1st - School Record - Automatic High School All-American - Tatum Enge. Hope Enge, Alexa McDevitt, Meg Dahlin - 1:35.24
- 100 Back - 3rd - School Record - Clare Watson - 54.99
- 100 Breast - 2nd - Automatic High School All-American - Gracyn Kehoe - 1:02.30

“We have worked as a unit the entire season - which was evident by how many athletes competed for us at the state meet,” said head coach Chauntelle Johnson. “This was a very fast meet and had more All-American swims than any state meet I have ever seen. A team win in this environment is impressive and would put us in the category as one of the best teams in MIHS program and WIAA state history. I am really proud of this team.”
