MIHS Football Coach DJ Mims Named Seahawks High School Coach of the Week
Mercer Island, WA, October 19, 2023 – Mercer Island High School football head coach DJ Mims has been named the 2023 Week 7 Seattle Seahawks 3A/4A High School Coach of the Week.
Each week during the high school football season, the Seahawks and the Washington State Football Coaches Association select two high school football coaches as the Coach of the Week winners.
The MIHS football program, which has a 5-2 record after a 24-20 win over Liberty in the Homecoming game last Friday, will receive a $500 donation from the Seahawks and Coach Mims has been invited to attend the December 17 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
“It is a significant accomplishment not only for me but for our entire coaching staff and players,” said Mims. “This is a true testament to the hard work, dedication and leadership of our entire program”
“We are looking to continue to build a program and culture that kids want to be a part of that focuses on competing and development on and off the field,” continued Mims. “Thank you to the Seattle Seahawks for this acknowledgment.”
“We thank our community for their support, as well as our Athletic Director and entire Administration Team as it really takes a village to serve all our student athletes.”
All 20 coaches selected during the high school football season will attend the Seahawks game on December 17, where they will all be recognized. One coach will be named Coach of the Year, and they will receive an additional $2,000 towards their football program.
