MIHS Drill Teams Finishes Second at State Championship

Mercer Island, WA, March 25, 2024 – This past Saturday, the Mercer Island Drill Team (MIDT) took second place in both the Military and Kick categories at the Washington State Championship at the Yakima Valley Sundome.
This is the first second place finish in 18 years for the drill team and the first time they are a runner-up in two categories simultaneously.
While Military is a staple for MIDT, this was the first year the team competed in the Kick category.

Ninth grader driller Bella Liang also took third place for Drill Downs.
The 2023-24 team has 22 members who were all instrumental in the team’s two second place finishes.

The 2025-26 issue of Mercer Island High School’s creative arts magazine Pegasus has won its second consecutive Gold Medalist rating from the Columbia Scholastic Press, with All-Columbia Honors for the Visual category.
