MIHS DECA Team Competes at International Competition
Mercer Island, WA, May 23, 2024 - The Mercer Island High School DECA team recently competed at the international DECA competition in Anaheim, California.
Joining 23,000 other qualifying students from around the world from the U.S., Germany, Scotland, India, China, and other countries, our Mercer Island students represented our school with strong business ‘pitches’, tests, papers, and academies. Each of these students worked so hard to achieve this opportunity by qualifying in a very competitive a pool of 11,000 other Washington state DECA students for a chance to compete at this massive venue.
Each Mercer Island DECA student brought their ‘A’ game to this competition. From the MIHS chapter, we had two students, Amuktha Josyula and Nikesh Woerner, who made it into the final round of competition. From there, Nikesh placed sixth in his Entrepreneurship event. This is an incredible feat of business acumen, creativity, poise, and talent.
When reached for comment, MIHS DECA chapter advisor, Jennifer McLellan shared, “This group of Mercer Island business students demonstrated extraordinary commitment to their learning and performance at this event. They were awe-inspiring to be with at DECA ICDC”.
