KMIH Students With Second Graders At Northwood

Mercer Island, WA, January 14, 2026 - Second graders in Elizabeth Loiselle's class at Northwood are learning about public service announcements in connection with their literacy unit "Government at Work."

Ms. Loiselle used materials from KMIH 88.9 The Bridge to create a lesson for her students to teach them how to write Public Service Announcements (PSA).

KMIH 88.9 Broadcast Media students were invited to Ms. Loiselle’s class on Tuesday to hear the PSAs and provide feedback to the students. KMIH students were very impressed by the work of the second graders.

The next step is for the second graders to record their PSAs. The KMIH students will take the audio the second graders create and then do some editing so that the PSAs can be programmed onto the KMIH airwaves.

In a couple of weeks, the second graders will visit and tour the KMIH studios at MIHS.
