Mercer Island, WA, February 14, 2024 – Mercer Island High School Athletic Director Lindsey Blaine announced today the hire of alumnus Chris Lawler as the new boys baseball head coach.

Lawler graduated from MIHS in 2014. He was a two-sport captain in both baseball and basketball. After graduating Lawler played baseball at the University of San Diego.

“I'm honored to accept the coaching position at my alma mater, allowing me to give back to the community that has given me so much,” said Lawler. “I'm excited to kick off this journey and continue the success and culture that Coach Woody has built for the last 10 plus years. Go Islanders!”

“We are thrilled to welcome Chris Lawler to MIHS as our new Head Baseball Coach,” said MIHS Athletic Director Lindsey Blaine. “With his extensive experience and passion for the game, we are confident that Coach Lawler will continue to build on the solid tradition of MI Baseball. His dedication to developing athletes and well-rounded student-athletes aligns perfectly with our school's values.”

“We are excited about the positive impact he will undoubtedly have on our baseball program and the Mercer Island community,” continued Blaine.
