Colton Knebel Named New MIHS Wrestling Coach
Mercer Island, WA, April 25, 2025 – Mercer Island High School athletic director Lindsey Blaine is pleased to welcome Colton Knebel as the new Head Wrestling Coach at MIHS.
Knebel is a proud MIHS alumnus, having graduated in 2011.
Colton has been a dedicated part of the MIHS wrestling community for years, first as an accomplished athlete, then as a valued assistant coach for the past nine seasons. He brings a deep connection to the program and a passion for continuing its strong tradition of excellence.
"I am fortunate to have been part of the MIHS Wrestling community both as an athlete and assistant coach, and I look forward to continuing the success of our program in this new role,” said Knebel.
“We’re thrilled to have Colton step into this leadership role and can’t wait to see what’s ahead for MIHS Wrestling under his guidance,” said Blaine.
As an Islander wrestler Knebel was a three time State qualifier at 189 pounds, placing third in 2010 and fourth in 2011. He is a member of the MIHS Wrestling Hall of Fame. Knebel also played lacrosse and was a member of the State Championship winning team in 2011.
Knebel graduated from Washington State University in 2016 with a degree in electrical engineering.
