Title: WLC377&WLC378--APPLIED ALGEBRA 2
Pre-Requisite: Applied Geometry (WLC366/367) or Geometry (CMA 271/272)
Course Description: Applied Algebra 2 explores how mathematics and statistics can be used to solve functional problems in engineering and applied sciences. Exponents, equations, inequalities, and systems of equations are applied in this course. Functions, quadratic equations, conic sections, exponential and logarithmic functions, polynomials, rational functions, sequences and series, probability, and trigonometric functions will be covered. We will focus on building tolerance for ambiguity, perseverance, and the ability to solve open-ended problems using digital tools. This course can be used toward the CTE graduation pathway.
Work Load: Formative assessments grade students' reasoning and problem-solving skills. Summative assessments assess students' achievement of learning standards and accuracy with tests, projects, performance tasks, and portfolios. 3-4 days a week, there is 30-minute homework.
Why would you be interested in the Class: Students learn math relevant to their careers in Applied Mathematics. For students who want additional support and more choice in how they learn math, this class is recommended. This course should also be taken by students who learn, or prefer to learn, differently.
