Title:  WLC187&WLC188--CREST ENG 11 A BLOCK

Pre-Requisite: None

Course Description:  As part of Crest's Language Arts/Social Studies block, students will complete English 11 and US History. Students from all grades will be grouped together in one Block class to maximize cross-curricular projects and discussions. Through project-based learning experiences, participation in small group and whole class discussions, and exploration of themes, the course will prepare students for citizenship in a global, digital world. Common Core standards will be used as a framework for projects, readings, and writings. The course is taught at Crest Learning Center.

Work Load:  Project Based Learning Course with a community focus. Balance between Group and Individual Projects, Research, Writing, Presentations, Class Discussions, Field Trips, Community Building. Most coursework is completed in class with unfinished projects to be completed on student time.

Why would you be interested in the Class:  Students interested in project-based learning, a smaller class size/lower staff/student ratio, student-centered learning with a choice in content and how to demonstrate learning, flexibility, and access to content outside of the traditional curriculum should take this class.
