Title:  GME411&GME412--RADIO BROADCAST

Pre-Requisite: None

Course Description: Operate a fully-functioning FCC-licensed radio station and learn from broadcasting industry veterans. Publish a podcast and be heard on KMIH. Learn public speaking, audio production, creative content creation, and multi-platform distribution, as well as marketing and collaboration. KMIH students who complete the Advanced Radio Broadcasting course often continue their education at top communication universities. They find employment and internships in major broadcasting media companies after graduation. This course combines technology, academic content, and communication skills to prepare students to be effective and confident communicators in any career path they choose.

Work Load:  Students have the opportunity to host a show on the air that lets them explore and discover their interests, promote Mercer Island High School and serve the community. The majority of the work is done during class and in the radio studios.

Why would you be interested in the Class:  For students who enjoy sharing stories about their interests and want to learn how to communicate more effectively. Industry standard broadcast equipment is used in this class and many students enjoy learning about the operation of the hardware and software required to program and operate KMIH.
