Course Description:  The Business and Personal Law course is designed for students interested in applying laws to business, personal, and work-related issues. In this one-semester course, students gain an understanding of our society's legal framework. Inquiry-based, competency-building activities build critical thinking and problem-solving skills. A number of topics will be discussed, including our judicial and court systems, ethics, torts, criminal law, intellectual property, contracts, and consumer protection. It prepares students to make ethical, legally-minded, professional decisions by providing them with knowledge about the basics of law.

Work Load:  Primarily in class work, projects and discussions.

Why would you be interested in the Class:  Students who want to explore ethical considerations in business practices by grappling with dilemmas, debates, and case studies that challenge them to make decisions with integrity. In today's global economy, legal literacy is a powerful asset.
