Title: FAV405--ADV GRAPHIC DESIGN
Pre-Requisite: FAV400 - Graphic Design
Course Description: Using visual communication to present information or promote a message to a consumer market is the focus of this course. Students will apply basic skills they learned in previous classes, such as typography, image development, layout, image manipulation, and creating digital artwork, to develop comprehensive marketing plans. Using Adobe Illustrator, students will take their digital designs to the next level. A class project can be a logo, poster, flyer, website, or packaging. As part of each project, students will be assessed on principles of design, originality, craftsmanship, ability to assess customer needs, analysis of competitor approaches, and technical proficiency.
Work Load: Mostly Individual work with emphasis on formative critiques. This looks like multiple in-progress assessments, or formative critiques, of students' artwork, and these formative critiques guide revisions of student artwork until a satisfactory end is achieved.
Why would you be interested in the Class: Graphic design in high school can provide students with many important skills they will need after graduation. When students learn the basics and discover their unique style in high school, they will be way ahead of their peers when it comes time to enter the job market.
