Title:  FAV150--ADV METAL JEWELR

Pre-Requisite:  FAV 100 - Metal and Jewelry Design

Course Description:  In this course, students will build on the skills and techniques they developed in Metal and Jewelry Design. The students will design and fabricate more complex jewelry, including a piece for our annual Empty Bowls fundraiser. A jeweler's saw frame is used in this course, as are complex soldering techniques and stone setting. Students will learn about equipment and tool maintenance, redesign and restyling techniques, safety policies, and customer service. Plans, drawings, and designs will be required before a piece can be executed. This course culminates with an Independent Study/Choice project.

Work Load:  Our Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) is Art Club.
A Standards Based Grading system that incorporates Formative Assessments for skill development and Summative Assessments based on projects. Students who use class time wisely will have little to no homework.

Why would you be interested in the Class:  Every skill level is welcome! In this class, you'll learn the same techniques and skills used in real-life industries. This course will teach students how to run a studio safely, as well as how to create and finish pieces that can be sold.
