Title: FAP621&FAP622--WIND ENSEMBLE

Course Description: As the premier performing ensemble in the MISD wind band program, the Wind Ensemble performs a variety of wind band repertoire throughout the year. Students enrolled will develop technical skills on their instrument as well as study music theory, music history, and rehearsal and performance techniques. Wind Ensemble students often study privately, are organized and self-motivated musical learners. The Wind Ensemble performs regularly outside of class throughout the school year. Participation in all performances is mandatory. Wind Ensemble students are also part of the MIHS Marching Band which performs at various school and community events.
Work Load: All MIHS band students are expected to practice regularly. The amount of outside of class practice time will vary with the individual student. During football/marching season, students will attend a minimum of one 45 minute sectional per week as well as one 3 hour evening rehearsal prior to each (approx. 4 or 5) home football game. During Concert season Wind Ensemble Students will attend one sectional per week as well as regular evening rehearsals prior to performances.
Why would you be interested in the Class: The MIHS band program is the largest student organization on campus and is composed of students from all grades, interests and abilities. Students joining the MIHS band program can expect to be a part of a hard working, creative, diverse team of learners that work together to achieve at the highest level.
