Title:  FAP411&FAP412--SYMPHONIC BAND

Pre-Requisite:  Experience in MISD Wind Band course, or Instructor’s consent

Course Description:    Symphonic Band is a continuation of the MIHS wind band program. Students enrolled will rehearse and perform a variety of music from the wind band repertoire. Students will develop technical skills on their instrument as well as study music theory, music history, and rehearsal and performance techniques. Concert Band students perform outside of class throughout the school year. Participation in all performances is mandatory. Symphonic Band students are also part of the MIHS Marching Band which performs at various school and community events.

Work Load:  All MIHS band students are expected to learn their individual parts on their own and demonstrate regular progress in rehearsals. The amount of outside of class practice time will vary with the individual student. During football/marching season, students will attend a minimum of one 45 minute sectional per week as well as one 3 hour evening rehearsal prior to each (approx. 4 or 5) home football game.

Why would you be interested in the Class:   The MIHS band program is the largest student organization on campus and is composed of students from all grades, interests and abilities. Students joining the MIHS band program can expect to be a part of a hard working, creative, diverse team of learners that work together to achieve at the highest level.
