Course Description: Spanish 1 focuses on providing students with a solid foundation of Spanish vocabulary, grammar, and culture. Students will have the opportunity to develop all four basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students will also gain cultural insight into the Spanish-speaking world through authentic sources and activities, such as readings, videos, presentations, and projects.
Work Load: For long-term memory development, students are assigned daily homework and are expected to review material frequently. There will be an emphasis on interactive communication in class, with active participation expected.
Why would you be interested in the Class: The course is designed for students who are interested in communicating, exploring, and connecting across cultures. This course is also relevant since the United States is the second largest Spanish-speaking nation in the world.
