Pre-Requisite: English 9 or 9 Honors
Course Description: Honors English 10 extends the English 10 curriculum by including additional readings and a deeper exploration of the course's themes and content. This course prepares students for advanced, upper-level English and writing courses, including honors and AP classes. An honors curriculum assumes proficiency in essay writing, an eagerness to take on an increased workload, strong critical thinking and reading skills, and a willingness to explore complex texts and themes. In addition, there are stringent expectations for students, and they are expected to meet these expectations creatively, independently, and responsibly.
Work Load: Group/Individual, Project/Papers (including in-class, timed writing), Formative/Summative. For all Honors/AP English courses, students should be prepared for up to an hour of homework per night.
Why would you be interested in the Class: The course is designed to prepare students for future honors and AP classes and for the demands of advanced, upper-level English and writing courses.
