Title:    DSC156--PHYSICS 1

Pre-Requisite:   None

Course Description:  This course teaches the fundamentals of physics and how they relate to other science courses and everyday life. This course covers data analysis, ethics, motion, forces, energy, and waves. A focus will be placed on science laws, theories, and concepts. Students will develop observational, investigative, and problem-solving skills through labs. Students must attend class to learn scientific concepts and participate in lab investigations. Techniques of laboratory work and technical writing are taught.

Work Load: Classwork and assessments will include readings, practice problems, homework, detailed lab reports, quizzes, and exams. Students can expect 1-2 hours of homework per week.

Why would you be interested in the Class:  Physics 1 is a foundational lab class that prepares students for upper-level science courses while earning a half-credit in lab science.

Physics 1 is a recommended prerequisite for Biology, Physics 2, and all other upper-level science courses.
