Title:  DSC155--CHEMISTRY 1

Pre-Requisite:  None

Course Description:    This course covers basic chemistry principles and how they relate to other courses and daily life. Chemistry topics include laboratory practices, properties of matter, atomic theory and structure, bonding and chemical reactions, solutions, acids, and bases. Student comprehension and application of scientific laws, theories, and concepts will be expected throughout the course. By completing labs and analyzing data, students will develop observational, investigative, and problem-solving skills. This course is recommended preparation for all MIHS science courses because of the laboratory techniques and technical writing skills students will acquire.

Work Load:  Assignments may include weekly readings and questions, practice problems, pre-lab assignments, and detailed lab reports. Students can expect to have up to 1-2 hours of homework per week. Participation in class discussions and lab investigations relies heavily on attendance.
