Title: WLC167&WLC168--CREST ENG9A BLK
Pre-Requisite: None
Course Description: As part of Crest's Language Arts/Social Studies block, students will complete English 9 and Business Communications/Technology. Students from all grades will be grouped together in one Block class to maximize cross-curricular projects and discussions. Through project-based learning experiences, participation in small group and whole class discussions, and exploration of themes, the course will prepare students for citizenship in a global, digital world. Common Core standards will be used as a framework for projects, readings, and writings. The course is taught at Crest Learning Center.
Work Load: Project-based learning with a community focus. There will be a balance between individual and group projects, research, writing, presentations, class discussions, field trips, and community building. The majority of coursework is completed in class with unfinished projects to be completed on student time.
Why would you be interested in the Class: Students interested in project-based learning, a smaller class size/lower staff/student ratio, student-centered learning with a choice in content and how to demonstrate learning, flexibility, and access to content outside of the traditional curriculum should take this class.
