Pre-Requisite: Algebra 2 CMA 341 & CMA 342
Course Description: This college prep course is algebra-based, application-oriented, and technology-dependent. Topics from Algebra 2, Statistics, Probability, and Precalculus are integrated into eight financial umbrellas: Discretionary Expenses, Banking, Investing, Credit, Employment, Income Taxes, Automobile Ownership, Independent Living, Retirement Planning, and the Stock Market. In this course, students use symbolic algebraic, graphical, geometric, and verbal representations to apply, construct, question, model, and interpret financial situations. In a motivating, young adult-centered financial context, students learn and apply mathematics they will use throughout their lives.
Work Load: Formative/Summative, Group/Individual Projects; approximately 1 hr weekly
Why would you be interested in the Class: If a student needs an additional year of mathematics after Algebra 2 and before a college level mathematics course this is the course to enroll in.
