Title: CMA161&CMA162--ALGEBRA 1
Pre-Requisite: Math 3/Pre-Algebra
Course Description: The Algebra 1 course covers linear functions, systems, exponentials, and quadratics, along with their notation, solving, graphing, and application techniques. Using one and two variable statistics, students will represent data in a variety of ways, identify key information such as standard deviations and correlation coefficients, and interpret data. In this course, students will be expected to communicate in four different ways: algebraically, visually, verbally, and numerically. Alternative approaches are used to enhance conceptual understanding of Algebra. Homework is assigned on a daily basis.
Work Load: Formative/Summative; approximately 0-30 min. daily/1.5 hrs. weekly
Why would you be interested in the Class: Students need this foundational course to continue their mathematical progression in high school. This course prepares students for Geometry and then Algebra 2.
