Title: BSS457&BSS458--AP CMP GOV POL BLK
Pre-Requisite: World History and American Studies
Course Description: Through this course, students will gain an understanding of governmental structures in China, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. There will be a study of social-political trends and conflicts as well as economics and politics. In addition to meeting the state graduation requirement, Civics emphasizes active citizenship, which includes local and state issues. College credit may be awarded for qualifying scores on the AP Comp Gov Pol Blk exam. Students who take an AP course are encouraged to take the AP exam.
Work Load: To prepare for the AP test in May, students will analyze current events, work in groups and individually, write essays, complete formative/summative assessments, and become informed voters.
