Course Description:    Civic education cultivates knowledge, skills, and dispositions essential to democracy. Understanding how the US political system works and our rights and responsibilities is knowledge. Skills taught include analyzing and evaluating current and historical issues and advocating for oneself and others. The skills of listening, learning, and negotiating and compromising will be developed.

Work Load:  Class work includes group work, direct instruction, video-clips, individual research, watching documentaries, and listening to podcasts. Homework varies between 15 minutes and 60 minutes a week. Assessments include but are not limited to infographics, essays, group projects, tests, and longer individual projects.

Why would you be interested in the Class:  Anyone seeking to acquire the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to be an active member in US democracy.
