Title:  BSS241&BSS242--MOD WLD HIST H BLK

Pre-Requisite:  9th grade Early Civilizations or Human Geography strongly recommended

Course Description:    All of the content from the regular Modern World History course will be covered in this Honors course. Research, critical reading, and writing skills are essential for honors students. Honors students are expected to complete outside reading and to comprehend assigned primary and secondary source materials; the reading load for honors can be double that of regular classes. In honors classes, students are expected to contribute their ideas and insights. Students will be required to demonstrate a thorough understanding of historical thinking through written and oral analyses.

Work Load:  The Honors Block is designed for motivated learners with an affinity for history. Readings are completed quickly, research is conducted independently, and writing skills are strong. Fast grasp of complex concepts. In honors courses, preparation is more extensive, assessments cover more material, and written essays and daily discussions are more demanding than in regular courses.

Why would you be interested in the Class:  For 10th grade students who love history and want to develop a deeper understanding of our world. We strongly encourage 10th grade Honors students to enroll in the integrated Modern World History Honors Block course, which combines historical content and literature to create a deeper and more rich learning experience.

Additional Information:  If a student is interested in registering for both the individual courses of 10th grade Honors World History and the 10th grade English Honors course, we encourage students to register for the integrated Modern World History Honors Block course, as the historical content and literature are linked together for a team taught deeper and more rich learning experience. Students should only register for the individual singleton course if they are not want both classes to be at the Honors level.
