Title: CMA551&CMA552--AP STATISTICS
Pre-Requisite: Algebra 2 CMA 551 & CMA 552
Course Description: Science, sociology, medicine, engineering, politics, geography, and business often use statistics to draw conclusions from imperfect data. This course covers strategies for gathering, organizing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Data collection, survey administration, and tabulation will be performed. Simulations and probability will be used to model chance phenomena. Writing and demonstrating a deep understanding of concepts and vocabulary are key components of assessments. College credit may be awarded for qualifying scores on the AP statistics exam. Students who take an AP course are encouraged to take the AP exam. Daily homework will be assigned.
Work Load: Formative/Summative and a few projects; approximately 4 hrs. weekly
Why would you be interested in the Class: Students interested in STEM, interested in a field that will require statistics knowledge, take a math course not in the Calculus track, or double up with another math class.
