Title: GBU803&GBU804 - AP MACRO ECON
(Offered every other year. This course will be available for the 2024-2025 school year)
Pre-Requisite: None
Course Description: This course is a college-equivalent course. Students will learn the range of topics necessary to understand the operation of a modern economy. Subjects will include, but are not limited to: basic economic concepts; measurement of economic performance; gross domestic product (GDP) and national income; labor, wages and unemployment; price determination and inflation; globalization; international finance; exchange rates, and balance of payments. College credit may be awarded for qualifying AP Macroeconomic scores. AP course students are encouraged to take the AP examination. .
Work Load: The workload for this class will be slightly higher than for the average MIHS AP course. Assignments will include textbook reading, weekly problem sets, group projects, and individual current event presentations.
Why would you be interested in the Class: Students who want to learn how modern economies work and how to improve their performance will find this course interesting. Furthermore, it will explain why some countries prosper while others do not. Economics has a powerful influence on history, politics, and comparative government, so it will also help students in other social studies disciplines.
