Pre-Requisite: N/A but recommended preparation is English 10 Honors or World Studies Honors

Course Description: This college-level course develops critical inquiry, argument, reading, & writing skills. All mandatory and recommended AP requirements are followed. American writing in several genres is explored and advanced literacy skills are developed. Students gain a deeper understanding of American English from historical, cultural, and social perspectives while strengthening their formal writing skills. This course includes daily readings in English and AP US History. College credit may be awarded for qualifying AP US History scores. AP course students are encouraged to take the AP examination. Work Load: Seminars, Group/Individual daily work, Projects & Papers, Formative/Summative assignments, daily reading/writing, AP students should anticipate up to an hour of homework a night, but this will vary and depend on individual reading/writing speeds. 

Why would you be interested in the Class: Students interested in the intersection between the literary, political, and social spheres of American history. Students who are successful are independent in their reading/writing skills and ready to analyze and synthesize complex texts with some guidance from teachers.
