Course Description: This course is designed to help you increase your muscular strength, muscular endurance and overall fitness levels through strength training. There will be an emphasis placed on safety, correct lifting techniques and spotting procedures. Students will learn to use barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, med balls, weight machines and plyometric exercises to develop intrinsic lifelong fitness habits. Students are grouped by experience level during the initial learning phase and navigate through two training programs through the use of a website/app called PLT4M. Over the last 6 weeks, students set personal fitness goals and design their own weekly programs to follow.
Work Load: All work is done during class time. The majority of the class is based on participation in workouts with a number of academic lessons throughout the semester in exercise science.
