Course Description: This hands-on, project-based course introduces students to the foundational principles of engineering and design thinking. Using industry-standard 3D modeling software and additive manufacturing tools, students learn how to conceptualize ideas in three dimensions and translate them into physical prototypes. Emphasis is placed on applying the engineering design process to solve real-world problems, create technical drawings, and develop innovative solutions through iterative prototyping and collaborative challenges. Students gain critical skills in creativity, communication, and analytical reasoning while exploring applications in engineering, architecture, and art. Designed as an entry point into STEM pathways, Introduction to Engineering Design empowers students to think like engineers—curious, methodical, and driven to improve the world through design.
Work Load: All work in this class will be done through in-class projects. Although you will occasionally work with others in group settings, your workload will be light.
