Course Description: Media Broadcast Arts is a project-based course that introduces students to radio, podcasting, and audio storytelling through hands-on work with KMIH 88.9 The Bridge, our award-winning, FCC-licensed radio station. Students build skills in interviewing, listening, scriptwriting, editing, sound design, and on-air performance while learning the professional standards and expectations of real-world broadcasting. The course emphasizes creativity, collaboration, technical skill-building, and real-world communication, giving students the space to explore their interests and experiment with multiple forms of audio storytelling. By the end of the term, students leave with an original podcast along with a polished portfolio showcasing their best work.
Work Load: The majority of the work is done during class and in the radio studios. Group/Individual projects.
