Course Description: Looking for a class that's all about fun? Join Steel Band, one of MIHS's most iconic classes, celebrating nearly 50 years of music and community! Steel Band features steel drums (also known as steel pans)”unique percussion instruments from Trinidad and Tobago, made from oil barrels and tuned to produce beautiful melodies. In this class, you'll dive into the vibrant sounds of Caribbean music like Calypso and Soca, while also exploring genres like Pop and Reggae. No musical experience? No problem! We'll provide the instruments and teach you everything you need to start playing from day one.

Work Load: Most of the work happens in class. Minimal homework is assigned. Outside of class, you'll perform at two annual concerts and entertain the student body with pop-up performances on campus.
