Pre-Requisite: Successful completion of Spanish 4. If you are newly enrolled to the district or hoping to enter a level of language out of sequence, your ability to register for the course is contigent on a one hour placement test with a language teacher. Course Description: Students will learn to communicate at an advanced level in authentic social, academic and professional situations with an emphasis on understanding culturally authentic materials. This College Board-guided curriculum addresses themes of contemporary life related to Science and Technology, Beauty and Aesthetics, Families and Communities, Global Challenges, Personal and Public Identities and Contemporary Life. This course is conducted 100% in Spanish and students are required to speak Spanish at all times while in the AP classroom. College credit may be awarded for qualifying scores on the AP French exam. Students who take an AP course are encouraged to take the AP exam.
Work Load: 3 to 5 hours of homework per week.
Why You Might Be Interested In The Class: The goal and mission of the Spanish department is for students to learn skills that allow them to communicate, explore, and connect across cultures and foster attitudes of mutual understanding and respect of the Spanish-speaking world.
