Pre-Requisite: Physics 1, biology, algebra 1

Course Description: The course concludes the year of physics begun in physics 1. Students explore physics processes and principles as they relate to everyday life through the lens of environmental, societal, and technological issues. In this course, students will study traditional physics topics, such as forces, energy, momentum, wave and fluid behavior, static electricity, and direct-current circuits. The emphasis in class will be on group discussions, designing scientific models of understanding, and engaging in laboratory activities; therefore, regular attendance is essential.

Work Load: Outside of class, expect 1-2 hours of homework per week to write up lab reports, complete solving practice problems, and test prep.

Why You Might Be Interested In The Class: The study of physics topics will promote meaning and understanding of how things work physically, and allow students to make connections in their life outside of school. Students who take Physics 2 are expected to also take Chemistry 2 during the other semester.
