Course Description: In Biology we study a variety of topics in the Life Sciences, including Ecology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Evolution and Molecular Biology. Students plan and conduct investigations using scientific tools and methods such as microscopy, electrophoresis and modeling. We also learn how to analyze data, draw conclusions, communicate our findings, and support claims with evidence. We address important issues such as human health and wellness and research possible solutions to problems like climate change and species extinction. Our goal is to spark curiosity and give students the tools to be critical thinkers.

Work Load: Assessments include lab reports, term projects, quizzes, homework, classroom participation, and exams. Expect between 1 and 3 hours of homework per week.

Why You Might Be Interested In The Class: Biology is a foundational lab class that prepares students for upper-level science courses while earning lab science credit. Biology is a recommended prerequisite for Biotechnology, AP Environmental Science, and AP Biology.
