Pre-Requisite: Must be an 11th or 12th grade student, who passed horticulture with a grade of C or higher.
Course Description: The Lab Science course builds upon the knowledge and skills gained in Horticulture I. Students will manage greenhouses and sell and distribute produce and crops. Students will also have many leadership opportunities by mentoring first-year students. Agriculture, Safety, Agricultural Leadership, the Horticulture Industry, Business Planning, Marketing, Inventory and Crop Management related to Agricultural Business, Plant Biology, and Physical and Chemical Science related to Agriculture will be covered in this course. Students will gain a foundational understanding of the agriculture industry and careers through study of these units.
Work Load: Independent, Lab Work, Leadership, Self-Directed, Our Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) is Future Farmers of America (FFA).
Why You Might Be Interested In The Class: Students who enjoyed taking Horticulture, like working in the greenhouse and working outside. Students who have shown responsibility and leadership in the Horticulture class. Students who may enjoy a smaller class environment and flexibility in demonstrating learning. This class will require students to work with limited supervision at times and make responsible choices in those settings.
