Course Description: A variety of science courses are covered in this course, including biology, botany, entomology, chemistry, mathematics, genetics, physiology, statistics, garden design, plant propagation, and plant selection. In addition to studying plant parts and their functions, students will also learn about environmental factors that contribute to plant growth, how to propagate plants using modern horticulture technology, how to design containers and landscapes, and how to identify plants and trees in our region. This course includes maintaining Horticulture's two greenhouses, assisting with schedule-driven crop production, and participating in a community-based plant sale.

Work Load: Project based, group and individual work, Lab Work, Our Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) is Future Farmers of America (FFA).

College Credit: Edmonds Community College - Plant Science (4) - HORT 102 - 7 credits Edmonds Community College - Plant Propagation (3) - HORT 229 - 7 credits This class will require working outside in a variety of weather conditions. There is a significant amount of hands-on labor required.
